Mercy Cycling Club Stewards of the American River Parkway
The Amercian River Parkway is one of the regions greatest natural resources. The parkway is full of wildlife, has miles of tree-lined bike paths, picnic areas, and great river access. It is enjoyed by thousands on a daily basis. Visitors from outside the area, including San Francisco, have shared their love and envy Sacramento residents for having such a unique resource.
Members of the cycling club ride the parkway daily. On many occasions they have voiced their belief that we need to preserve this jewel. Club members have taken on this cause by volunteering to become stewards of the American River Parkway. In February, the American River Parkway Foundation gave the Mercy Cycling Club stewardship of Mile 5 North of the parkway.
The clubs main responsibility is to volunteer 20 hours per quarter by picking up trash and debris. Watch for weekend ride events and come out and help keep the parkway beautiful.
