CYCLING PROGRAM

The Mercy Cycling Program sponsors events for Mercy employees, their families, and the community to promote wellness and support for a healthy environment. !



MISSION



The mission of the Mercy Cycling Program is to provide resources and sponsor events for Mercy employees and their families to meet and participate in fun cycling activities. The activities promote the benefits of cycling specifically personal health, wellness, and a clean air environment.

Vision – The Mercy Cycling Program vision is to improve employee health, decrease the harmful pollutants in the air, and reduce traffic congestion.


1. With the support of Mercy General Hospital the Mercy Cycling Program will organize membership, activities, programs, and other program initiatives. The program will be managed by the Commuting Options Program and Health and Wellness Committees.


2. The Employee Wellness Committee & Commuting Options Program will provide activity resources and support for the Cycling Program.


3. The Cycling Program and all activities are open to all Mercy employees. There is no membership fee required to participate. Employees may bring their families to all activities. Other activiteis will be open to community members


4. The Cycling Program activities will include ride events for all level of riders, bike safety clinics, bike repair, and healthy biking. The committee will plan and organize a minimum of four activities per year.


5. Mercy employees who participate in the Commuting Options programs will receive a Mercy custom riding jersey and shorts. Commuting Options program participants must cycle to work a minimum of 60% of the days in which they are scheduled to work. After 6 months of achieving the minimum 60% the employee will receive a Mercy Cycling Club Certificate and their custom riding jersey and shorts.


6. If an employee is not able to commit to cycling to work at least 60% of the days they work they can receive a jersey and shorts once they ride 1,000 miles to work. The miles they ride will be documented on the monthly commuting calendar form.


7. If an employee cannot commit to cycling 60% of the days they work or 500 miles, then the employee can purchase a jersey and shorts at cost.
